Not Just an Epic Fantasy
The book was created on pure imagination, a child’s inclination for adventure, miracles and dreams. It aims to break the cliches and stereotypes. The book is not just another Epic fantasy, it is my lifelong project, a journey, an extension of what I aim to bring to the world: Love, hope and redemption.
Yes, the main character in my epic fantasy is Muslim. When i first wrote her, she was a blank slate. Just a girl, no culture, no dreams of her own, she lacked the diversity and richness of what makes someone themselves. That’s why when i revisited my book a few years ago, i gave her an identity. There’s no positive representation in the media for those who are marginalized, so i want her to represent a human who has her own culture and beliefs and also to show that she is first and foremost a person, someone who loves, thinks, and has hopes and dreams of her own. I’ve seen more and more writers speaking up. Our world is full of colour, wonder and possibilities. To let shadows and darkness reign just because it exists– is not the answer.
Before the book is published, I made this poster to get the word out. Please share to support me and let’s build some well needed hype!
